The future Rue Descartes is identified (old name Rue Bordet). If one looks carefully at the island triangle (just in front, and to the left of the Église Saint-Étienne-du-Mont), one can identify yet another small college, the "Col. de l'Ave Maria" (also known as "Collège de Hubant," after the founder), another Medieval school originally dating from 1339 and surviving until 1810. The gate to the École Polytechnique still exists (see below).
